The 2026 Western Maryland Artist Studio Tour will take place on October 17th and 18th with 24 artists holding open house from 11 am to 5 pm free to the public. Interesting and diverse artworks including pottery, jewelry, sculpture, oil paintings, stained-glass, watercolors, mixed medium, artful furnishings, and more. The Mad Hatter Bistro and Lounge restaurant located at 48 N. Center Street in Chicago Market building has a sampling of the artists’ works along with the brochures listing addresses of each studio. They will host a “Meet and Greet the Artists” pre-tour event Friday, October 16th from 6 to 8 pm. There is a website for full details https://wmdartiststudiotour.
The artist studio tour has been happening for over 30 years and this year was organized by the artist committee under the direction of Casey Beal with the assistance of Chris Sloan and too many others to name. Many thanks to the sponsors, Allegany Arts Council, the Cumberland Cultural Foundation, Edward C. Crossland Attorney at Law, and the Chicago Market Gallery located in the Mad Hatter Bistro and Lounge!
Here is an alpha listing of the 24 artists who are taking part in this tour, Sue Arnson, Casey Beal, Boinayel (Axel Santiago), Jason Brady, Ally Brawn, Josh Brown, Ron and Nick Clark, Ed Coffey, Patricia Crossland, Hannah Ehlman, Hilmar Gottesthal, William Hentosh, Susan Johnston, Macee Knecht, Penny Knobel-Besa, Ashleigh Love, Greg Malloy, Brent Nelson, Susan Patrice, Meg Romero, Shannon Shine, Christopher P. Sloan, Anita Teter, and Jorge Zamorano.
There are raffle tickets at each location so the more sites you visit the more tickets you can fill in to win one of the many “art baskets”. If you buy an item at that artist’s site, you get a second ticket for the drawing which will be held on November 2. The website has actual directions to the artists locations and contact information for more details. Planners think this is going to be an outstanding year for visitors so gather some friends and save this weekend for the “Grand Arts Tour 2026”.
