A longtime member and leader of multiple bands (most notably The Resonant Rogues) with Keith Josiah Smith\, her husband and collaborator\, Sparrow is stepping out under her own name with a new album of Appalachian originals. Her journey into old time started in her late teens with freight trains and Tommy Jarrell tapes\, and her musical taste is also inspired by a lifelong love of dance. DESCRIPTION:Join artist Pedro Ledesma III for the opening reception of The Promissory Note: A Visual Audit of the American Dream\, a major new exhibition created over the past year in Allegany County. \nThrough photography\, historical processes\, archival materials\, and community participation\, the exhibition explores how America’s founding promises are lived and experienced today. Featuring local landscapes\, historic sites\, schools\, and community members\, the work connects Western Maryland to broader questions about the American experience. \nHighlights include 19th-century wet-plate collodion photographs made on glass at the Union Grove Schoolhouse\, large-scale photographs\, and a 40-foot installation of approximately 60 silhouetted community members. \nThe opening reception is free and open to the public. Meet the artist and experience the first major presentation of this ongoing project. \nThe exhibition will be on view through October 2\, 2026\, Monday through Friday\, 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
